Creating Strategic Blueprint

Proto Artisan Bakery’s story already smelled like freshly-baked gold: a husband-and-wife team (James & Jo-Anne) who began gifting loaves to neighbours during the 2020 lockdown and turned the hobby into two thriving Hertfordshire shops devoted to Real Sourdough Proto Artisan Bakery.

Our brief was to distil that origin story into a brand-film that could:

  • Welcome first-time web visitors in under 90 seconds

  • Fuel social buzz in the run-up to Easter pre-orders

  • Double as an in-store loop, surrounding customers with the craft they’re about to taste

We mapped these goals into a three-tier content plan (hero film, 15 s teasers, silent screen loop) and set a single creative north-star: “Let the loaf be the hero.”

Creative fusion

Shot early inside the St Albans store, the film follows bread and pastry production with a smile. Full frame swirls, slow-motion steam and hand-scored crusts are punctuated by candid words from James to ground the visuals in real people and purpose.

Deliverables

  • 1:30 flagship brand story (16:9)

  • 3 × 15 s vertical reels for Instagram/TikTok

The results

Immediate appetite: The flagship clip tripled Proto’s Instagram engagement in the first 48 hours and helped Easter pre-orders sell out a week early.

  • Website stickiness: Average session time on the “Why Sourdough?” page jumped from 1 min 12 s to 2 min 55 s after embedding the video.

  • In-store impact: Staff report that customers “arrive chatting about the starter and fermentation before they’ve even seen the menu,” turning casual footfall into informed, loyal fans.
